Weird Science

If you're not of scientific mind you may want to look away now...  I found so much cool sci-fi stuff while researching this blog I already have enough items for a sci-fi themed blog tomorrow.  But for today we're celebrating science fact as only the Cute Kids Clocks blog can - with knitting, novelty hedgehogs, cushions, jewellery and a giant planet-eating monster!

These electric transistor stud earrings look subtle to the untrained eye, but can also be a great talking point for anyone with an interest in electronics.  The front of each earring is made from a 2N2369 silicon NPN transistor, in a TO-18 metal case.  The posts and butterfly backs are made from Sterling Silver.  The transistors are approx 5 mm wide. Each stud is 17 mm long in total.

He stands approximately 2.5inches tall (6.5cm) His costume is not removable.

A chunky sterling silver ring with a deep purple amethyst gemstone. The ring is based on a nucleus with the gemstone forming the nucleolus. The ring was formed by sweat soldering two pieces of silver together giving a nice chunky finish. The shank is 5mm wide and has dotted swirls stamped along it. The ring has been given a brushed antique finish to highlight the detail.  Size: focal piece approx 20mm (0.8 inch) wide. UK size P, US size 7-3/4.

There's no denying it- the Victorians made some of the most beautiful looking microscope slides with their distinctive decorative cover papers and carefully handwritten descriptions.   This particular slide features a beetle antenna mounted under glass and then covered by an ornate gold and burgundy paper cover.  All links and components are soldered so you can be sure of a delicate looking but very sturdy necklace.

This picture is made up of applique and freehand machine embroidery.  This cushion cover is 21" x 21" (53 x 53cm). It is made from different patterned fabrics. The cover has a zip closure on the back.
