Upcycled

Today I'm celebrating the clever people who take the broken, unwanted, out-dated and otherwise redundant and turn it into something useful and beautiful.

Bean Bag by The Coffee Bag Company on Folksy

This is a beautiful hand crafted Bean bag made from upcycled coffee bean sacks. The bean bag is 17" by 17" by 17" and is fully lined with quality fabric to ensure retention of filing which also protected by a second zip pocket to prevent accidental loss of filling. 

Board Game Notebook by Peony-and-Thistle on DaWanda

This unique one-of-a-type notebook has been lovingly re-crafted from an old game ‘Scotland Yard’, made in 1983 by Ravensburger.  The front and back covers are made from the game board, and feature London streets and landmarks in colour. The book measures 4 ½” (15cm) wide by 8 ½”” (22cm) tall. There are 100 pages of blank white 80 gsm paper making a total of 200 blank sides. The 10 signatures have been hand sewn together using a strong black coloured waxed linen thread using a Coptic stitch over 6 sewing stations.

The bunting is made from old Beano annuals, so is nice thick paper/thincard.  The bunting measures approx 3.5m with 16 pennants held along coloured bias binding, each double sided pennant measures approx 18cm x 23cm.

Clock installed in a Coronet Ambassador Camera circa 1955. New silent clock movement with guarantee. Choice of either plain of fancy gold hands.  The clock comes with a battery and instructions for its fitting.

Slate Flower Chalk Board by DesignerSlate on DaWanda

This chalkboard made from reclaimed Welsh slate can be hung using the strong natural hemp provided, the chalk hangs from the hemp so it will never get lost and is provided with the chalkboard.

Floppy Disc Notebook by NantDesigns on Etsy

Two floppy discs have been transformed into a hardback notebook. Containing multicoloured paper this little book is a very handy 9 x 9 x 2.5 cm- just right for a pocket.  Attractive coptic binding means that the pages lay completely flat when opened. 

Nocturne Musical Score Lampshade by NaturallyHeartfelt on Etsy
£34.50 (+ £5.50 p&p)
A special handmade pendant lampshade created by applying circles cut from vintage sheet music. The music paper comes from Chopin's 'Nocturne' and the paper of each handcut circle has a lovely vintage colour.  Handcut paper circles are applied to a paper lampshade with a wire structure inside so the finished lantern is quite strong and durable. The lantern is created with a 12" (30.5cm) diameter paper lampshade; the finished circumference is approx 37".

An old rotary phone upcycled to create a quirky desk clock.  Has a Union Jack detail on the top.

Side Table and Magazine Rack by Metamorf on DaWanda

This side table has been made from 2 drawer fronts taken from an old dressing table. A curved drawer has been jointed together to form a magazine rack to accommodate books and magazines for occasional reading. The second, flat drawer has been cut into thin strips and laminated to make a feature of the plywood center and smoothed down to make an flat table top.

Platter made from a recycled wine bottle.  Food and dishwasher safe.
